The Worthless Check Division manages the District Attorney’s
Theft-by Check Prevention Program. Their duties include
issuing warrants for hot check writers, collecting payments
for victims (merchants), and assisting those who may be
victims of forgery. This division’s primary purpose is to
collect money for complainants of theft-by-check for either
merchandise or service. If money cannot be collected this
division strives to develop those complaints into
prosecutable cases.
In 2005, the restitution amount received was $490,000, and
the amount collected has been steadily increasing for the
past several years. |
