Victim
Assistance Program:
The Wichita County Victim Assistance Program works with the
Texas Attorney General’s Office to provide crime victims’
compensation, which is financial assistance to help eligible
victims of crime with certain expenses related to the crime.
Started by a grant obtained through the efforts of District
Attorney Barry Macha, this program has been helping Wichita
County crime victims since 1985. Money for this program
comes from court costs paid by criminals and deposited by
each Texas county into a Crime Victims’ Compensation Fund.
