Training Division

The mission of the Training Division is to recruit and select the best qualified candidates for the position of Detention Officer and Peace Officer, to provide meaningful and effective entry-level training, and to provide in-service training and weapons proficiency training to all police personnel. Staffing for the division includes a Lieutenant, who is the Training Coordinator.

The Training Coordinators works with a cadre of instructors to provide the training needed.

The Training Division's job description is extremely varied, ranging from the development of training curriculum and lesson plans, to research and development, to being the coordinating point for police recruiting, testing, and background investigations. This Division is the link between the Sheriffs Office and the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education which is the certifying agency for law enforcement officers in Texas.
